St. Andrew's High School in Clydebank were crowned as the 2006 winners of the Scottish Accident Prevention Council's (SAPC) Secondary Public Speaking Competition, the final year that the SAPC held the competition.
St. Andrew's High won the local heat to go on to represent West Dunbartonshire at the semi-final stage. At the semi-final, they beat off competition from East Renfrewshire, East Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway and Renfrewshire to go forward to the final along with East Dunbartonshire.
They were joined in the final by teams representing City of Dundee, City of Edinburgh and North Lanarkshire.
The teams spoke on the topic of "Taking Action for Child Safety". The judges had a very difficult job, but after extended deliberation, the winners were announced to be the team representing West Dunbartonshire, St Andrew's High.
