The final of the West Dunbartonshire Primary Public Speaking Competition was held in the Denny Civic Theatre on Tuesday, 14th March.
The winners of the 2006 competition were St. Stephen's Primary. They fought off strong competition from the other five primary schools in the final. Primary schools from all over West Dunbartonshire take part in this competition, the only public speaking competition of its kind for primary school pupils.
Teams had to speak on the topic of 'Road Safety: Safer Streets - Safer People'. Public speaking for primary schools started six years ago, with the aim of raising children's achievement in talking and listening, in St. Stephen's Primary, so it is rewarding for them to win the competition this year.
The winning team are: Verity McKenzie (Vote of Thanks), Samantha Ross (Main Speaker) and Gary Morrison (Chairperson).
