The West Dunbartonshire Joint Future Partnership is pleased to present its first Local Partnership Sensory Impairment Strategy 2006 - 2009. This Strategy welcomed the views of all interested parties about the content and layout of the plan, as part of our continuing commitment to the consultation and participation process. This strategy is bedded in the principles of Our Joint Health Improvement Plan 2004-2008; Community Care Services for People with Sensory Impairment: An Action Plan (2005); Sensing Progress: Social Work Services for People with a Sensory Impairment 1998; The Report from the Registration and Certification Working Group 2001 and Community Care Services for People with a Sensory Loss: An Action Plan 2004. Publications such as NHS Audiology Services in Scotland (2003), Closing the Gap (1997) and Unseen (2004) have also highlighted the importance of sensory impairment services.
The Sensory Impairment Strategy Group is comprised of representatives from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, West Dunbartonshire Community Health Partnership, West Dunbartonshire Council, the voluntary sector including Visibility, Deaf Connections, RNIB Scotland, RNID Scotland and Deafblind Scotland and local users organisations including Focus, Bankie Talk and Rockvale Rebound. This group developed the strategy which sets out the agenda for the review and development of services for people with a sensory impairment for the next three years. The group set the key priorities and objectives for partnership planning to develop services for people with a sensory impairment.
