On the 5th March 2007 West Dunbartonshire Council and Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS launched their Integrated Assessment Framework for Children in West Dunbartonshire (IAF). This work is being undertaken to meet our joint service commitments and in response to the National Integrated Assessment Framework and Getting It Right for Every Child report. The IAF project is sponsored by Bill Clark, Director Social Work Services, Liz McGinlay Director Education and Cultural Services and Keith Redpath, Director West Dunbartonshire CHP.
In 2007 2 pilots were undertaken, the first pilot included children aged 7-11 years living and schooling in Clydebank and the second pilot included the Special Needs in Pregnancy team in Vale of Leven who provide services for pregnant women with drug or alcohol issues. The Vale pilot introduced the IAF process for newly born children. These pilots tested the multi-agency business process and the new Integrated Assessment Report and Child's Plan.
The pilot evaluations and outcomes informed the multi-agency IAF Training 'Preparing the Child's Plan' delivered to over 200 Health, Education, Social Work and some voluntary sector staff between April and June 2008. Midwives, School Nurses, Head Teachers, Depute Head Teachers,Community Childrens Nurses, Social Workers and Health Visitors from across West Dunbartonshire made up the bulk of those trained.
On 1st July 2008 the West Dunbartonshire Integrated Assessment Framework for Children was implemented across the authority and a library of documents is available through this website outlining the aims and objectives of the Framework and providing guidance, tools and forms for use when undertaking an Integrated Assessment for a child.
This site also provides access to National Getting It Right for Every Child documentation.
