What is Binge Drinking
There's lots of confusion on this question as there is no internationally accepted definition of binge drinking. In the UK, binge drinking is defined as men consuming more than 8 and women consuming more than 6 standard units of aclohol on the person's heaviest drinking day.
The problem with this definition is that it doesn't take into account the length of time over which the alcohol is drunk. Drinking more than 6 or 8 units over a whole day will not have the same affect as drinking the same amount over an hour or 2. But generally, binge drinking is a high intake of alcohol in relatively short spaces of time.
