Mixing Alcohol and other Drugs

Alcohol and Stimulants: - The effects of the stimulant and depressant (alcohol) will work against each other and appear to cancel each other out. This can be dangerous as it can encourage individuals to take more of one or other drug and increase the risk of overdose.

Alcohol and Depressants: - If alcohol is taken at the same time as another depressant, the effects of both substances will be exaggerated and can be dangerous. If alcohol is mixed with strong depressants like methadone or heroin, overdose is a real risk.

Alcohol and Painkillers: - alcohol mixed with painkillers (analgesics) like aspirin can increase the risk of bleeding from the stomach, particularly in people with stomach ulcers.
