The West Dunbartonshire Children’s Festival was opened by the enthralling writer Yvonne Coppard. Author of such books as the ‘Alex’ series, and the ‘School From Hell’ series, Yvonne is a popular and appealing children’s writer. She kept Primary 5 children from Whitecrook, Linnvale and Knoxland engrossed during the hour long sessions in Clydebank and Dumbarton Library. Yvonne invited children to become involved in the storytelling process by developing out of the ordinary events from everyday situations. Children and adults alike came away from the sessions with a greater understanding of how to make-up a story and lots of inspiration to get writing themselves.
