Prolific children’s author, Linda Strachan, came along to Dalmuir and Alexandria Libraries to launch her new Hamish McHaggis book, ‘
Hamish McHaggis and the Lost Prince’. Primary 2 and 3 classes from Clydemuir, Our Lady of Loretto, Levenvale and St Mary’s primary schools were delighted to be the first children in Scotland to hear the new story. As well as talking about how she thinks up the ideas for her stories and writes them, she also got lots of volunteers from the audience to help her demonstrate the wide variety of people that are involved in the production of a book. From when the book is written to when it eventually ends up on a Library or Bookshop shelf - people like editors, illustrators, proof readers and even Librarians! The sessions were great fun as well as informative and were a fabulous way to end the Children Festival on a high note.
We can’t wait to see who’ll be coming next year...
