Hardgate Mills: Hosiery Mill that was destroyed during the Blitz. Out of all the four local mills only this one survived the collapse of industry following the American Civil War. It converted to producing thread and yarn, and at the time of the Blitz, producing hosiery goods. Would originally be referred to simply as Hardgate Mill.
