Loch Lomond Shores and the National Park

Loch Lomond is the largest fresh water loch in the UK - 24 miles long and 5 miles wide. It is crossed by the Highland Boundary Fault and exhibits the physical characteristics of both highland and Lowland Scotland. Some 200 species of birds and over 25% of Britain's wild plants have been recorded in the area. It is one of the world's most famous Lochs with the area renowned for its beauty and tranquillity.

Lomond Shores hosts the principal Gateway Centre to the park offering visitors the opportunity to explore the astonishing diversity of this stunning landscape and its abundant wildlife. Staffed jointly by Park Rangers and Tourist Board staff, the Centre contains all the information and tools visitors need to discover Scotland's first National Park - Loch Lomond & The Trossachs.

The Scottish Enterprise's Destination Loch Lomond which includes the West Riverside Development project, aims at positioning Loch Lomond and The Trossachs as well as the National Park as one of Scotland's top tourist destinations by tapping into the unrivalled and inspirational opportunities afforded by the area.
