Housing Allocations Policy

The Housing Allocations Policy was assessed using a first pilot version of the Integrated Impact Assessment guidance. This was a useful learning process for all involved and helped to develop the guidance, making it more focussed and user friendly.

An action plan was produced and this informed the writing of the new Housing Allocations Policy. Some of the issues raised through the process are listed below.

Sample of Results from IA of Housing Allocation:
- Further information required on availability of information in minority languages.

- Clarification required on 'capacity' issues - eg role of representatives.

- Need to provide further information re policy on aids and adaptations.

- Clarify information on response to victims of domestic abuse.

- Clarify situation re paid carers in respect to accommodation needs.

- Need to include equal opportunity monitoring.

Issues for further consideration:

- Issue of who can provide information / confirmation on needs of disabled people. At present this is restricted to GPs
