Equal Opportunities Monitoring in West Dunbartonshire Council

Under the Race Relations Act 1976 as amended by the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 (RRA(A)), West Dunbartonshire Council has a duty to monitor, by ethnicity, numbers of:

employees in post
job applications
applications for training
internal applications for promotion
employees who receive training
employees who are involved in grievance procedures
employees who are involved in disciplinary procedures
employees who benefit or suffer detriment as a result of its personal development scheme
employees leaving the Council.

The Council must report on and publish this data on an annual basis.

At present not all the information required is available, but work is taking place between the Policy and Development Officer, Diversity and staff across services to work towards a coherent and effective system of monitoring which will provide useful information.

Figures are not given where there are less than five people under any ethnic category. Consultation will be undertaken with Black and Minority Ethnic employees to review this.

The information for 2004 - 2005 was reported to the Audit and Performance Review Committee on September 14 2005. View a copy of the report.

West Dunbartonshire Council also monitors its employees by disability, gender and age and the information held for 2005 - 2006 was reported to committee on the 20th of September 2006. View a copy of that report.
