What is Tenant Participation?

Tenant participation is a partnership between tenants, Councillors and housing staff to work together towards a common goal of better housing conditions and housing services.

There are a number of groups in the West Dunbartonshire area and while most areas are represented there are some pockets where we do not have a tenants association. If you would like further information on the groups or how to set up a group view the pages on the left.

How Do I Get Involved?

There are several ways to be involved. You can set up a tenants association in your area or join an existing association. You can also attend the public meetings held by the association in your area.

How Do I Contact An Existing Tenants Association?

There is a register of the tenants organisations held at Council headquarters, Garshake Road, Dumbarton. The register lists the contact for each group. The register also has the constitution of the group and a map of the area the group represents.

How Do I Start a New Tenants Association?

Please read the terms and conditions for registering a tenants group. For further information you should contact the tenant participation staff on the meet the team webpage.

The tenant participation staff can help with:

  • Advice on how to start a new group
  • Training and advice on housing issues
  • An annual grant for administration costs
  • A community base for group activities.
