In August 2009, a self completion questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of 2100 West Dunbartonshire residents. The questionnaire was distributed via a distribution company to 700 residents within the Clydebank area, 700 within Dumbarton and 700 within the Alexandria area
This consultation was a repeat of the exercise undertaken in November 2002 and again in October 2006.
A total of 327 customers completed the survey which represents a response rate for this questionnaire of 15.5%. This response rate is an improvement on both the 2002 and 2006 response rates which were, 14% and 11% respectively.
Key findings/Recommendations
The objective of the consultation exercise was to establish the opinion of West Dunbartonshire residents on the services provided by Grounds Maintenance.

The five areas which reported the highest level of satisfaction in this questionnaire were:
- Grass cutting within parks
- Overall condition of the parks
- Maintenance of flower beds in parks
- Distance travelled to reach play area
- Grass cutting within cemeteries
In contrast, the five areas which reported the highest level of dissatisfaction and areas that required improvement were:
- Toilet facilities within parks
- Toilet facilities within cemetery
- Provision of litter/dog fouling bins
- Provision of free poop scoop bags
- Access to water supply within cemeteries
