Swimming Development - "From Beginner to Winner"

Mission Statement

 

'To teach as many young people as possible to swim and to ensure that those who wish to achieve high levels of performance in the sport are provided with the opportunity to do so through a fluent pathway to an appropriate competitive environment'.

 

West Dunbartonshire Council's swimming development programme aims to:

  • Provide all citizens with the opportunity to learn to swim through a progressive teaching programme.
  • Provide schoolchildren with the opportunity to learn to swim before they leave primary school.
  • Offer children with additional support needs with the opportunity to fully participate in the swimming development programme. Organise and assist in the delivery of an effective coach education programme, which ensures that high standards of teaching and coaching are maintained.
  • Provide a clear pathway through the swimming continuum from complete beginner to national and international standards of performance.
  • Work in partnership with Scottish Amateur Swimming Association.
  • Assist the development of local swimming club structures.

 

Waiting lists are in operation at all Swimming Pools. Please contact the Vale of Leven, Meadow Centre or Play Drome to add your child's name, contact details and swimming ability to the waiting lists at each venue. 

 

When the list is being updated by the Swimming Development Officer it will not available for a certain period of time.
