Sports Development programmes are delivered within a fun and open environment to ensure that young people are educated to realise that sport is something that can improve their quality of life and should be an integral part of their culture. Although the main priority of Sports Development is to improve youth sport, sport and physical activity programmes are also promoted and delivered to all ages
The Sports Development Unit currently delivers and supports the target sports of Athletics, Football, Hockey and Swimming. Other projects delivered by the Sports Development Service are the CRIF Club and Coach Development programme, Community Sports Programme and CRF after-school and pre-school age Sports Programme.
West Dunbartonshire Council's Sports Development Unit aims to:
-
Promote and encourage participation in sport and physical activity throughout West Dunbartonshire by improving opportunities for people to take part.
-
Support structures necessary to allow people to progress and improve their performance.
-
Encourage proactive, equitable and accessible programmes designed to develop positive and sustained sporting and physical activity habits amongst young people.
A large variety of sports activities and coaching courses are provided during school holiday periods.
