Welcome to the Instrumental Music Service. We hope that you find the information you require about our service and the provision we offer within the West Dunbartonshire area.
The service is based in Dalreoch Primary School in Dumbarton.
It is led by the Education Support Officer, Aileen Douthwaite and supported by a team of 19 Instrumental Instructors and an Instrumental Repairer. Tuition is offered in all of our primary and secondary establishments as well as in Kilpatrick School.
Instrumental tuition is offered on Upper and Lower Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, Guitar(accoustic and electric) and Mandolin.
Tuition for Strings begins at P4 with Brass and Woodwind starting in either P5 or P6.
Guitar and Percussion tuition is currently only available to those pupils attending secondary schools where priority is given to those sitting National Qualifications.
Mandolin tuition is offered to pupils from P7 after an initial school visit by our partners the Lanarkshire Guitar and Mandolin Association and is funded by the Scottish Executive's Youth Music Initiative.
