Aim
The aim of the pupil council is to offer pupils the opportunity to voice their views in relation to the day operations within Saint Mary's School.
Membership
The pupil council has representatives from P6 and P7, these members represent the school community. The members have been elected, as responsible representatives to present pupils' views to the Headteacher.
Council Meetings
The pupil council meet with the Headteacher on the first Friday of each month, at these meetings the members raise and discuss points submitted by each class.
Prior to the meeting it proves helpful if each class participated in a brief circle time activity to identify issues requiring action e.g.
"I would like the council to discuss.."
"Something that concerns me about school is.."
"Something I wish that in this school was.."
The pupil council note the agenda items when they visit each class.
After the meeting with the Headteacher the council feed back to each class the outcome regarding matters raised.
At all times pupils are encouraged to approach their teacher, council representative or any member of staff if anything or anyone is bothering them. The guiding principle in all that we do is that every member of Saint Mary's School Community should feel safe and happy in Saint Mary's School.
