West Dunbartonshire's vocational programme provides a range of taster, 1 year and 2 year work-related experiences. This includes Skills for Work which gives young people in their third year at High School the opportunity to take a 2 year vocational course.
Courses are extremely practical and delivered in partnership with Clydebank College, Council's Leisure Services, schools, partner agencies such as Careers Scotland and various employers in the private and voluntary sectors. This allows young people the resources they need to gain a recognised qualification and increase future employment prospects.
Our aspiration is for all children and young people to be:
-
successful learners
-
confident individuals
-
responsible citizens
-
effective contributors.
West Dunbartonshire Council’s Community Learning & Development CL&D Adult Learning Team also work in partnership with Clydebank College and other agencies to develop and deliver a range of community based adult learning provision (16+) which includes non-vocational and vocational courses. These community based learning opportunities are run in local venues at a time, pace and level which suits learners.
Adult Learning Action Network group (A.L.A.N.)
A.L.A.N is made up of a range of organizations and agencies working together in partnership to make a variety of quality lifelong learning opportunities available for people to access across the authority. Initiatives they have been involved in have included the development of a local Learner Passport Scheme and carrying out a Learner Engagement Survey.
