West Dunbartonshire Council submitted 11 submissions for this year's Municipal Journal Awards by the deadline of 19th January. 10 of these were edited and submitted centrally by the Policy Unit:

- Sport Development
- Kids United
- Mental Health.
West Dunbartonshire Council won the award of Best Achievement of the Year in Children's Services at the MJ Achievement Awards Ceremony on 28 June 2007.
West Dunbartonshire Council's Sports Development service also won the award for Health Improvement in what was billed as the 'Scottish Local Government Oscars'.
Sports Development delivered an extensive programme of sport and physical activity within West Dunbartonshire. This included free sports programmes to all participants and the innovative approach of delivering sports sessions within local authority Early Years and Childcare Centres.
