Learning Assistant - Christie Park Primary School.
Paul has been a volunteer for eight years now leading activity and sport sessions for pupils at various after-school clubs. With plenty of valued support from the Head Teacher, Paul has encouraged pupils so much he had 668 attendances at the 48 sessions he managed last year and has also persuaded other school staff and parents to be involved.
With help from Active Schools Paul has been trained to deliver other activities and now takes five after school clubs in the school: Athletics, Hockey, Netball and two Football clubs.
“Active Schools has been great. Andy has managed to get me loads of great equipment – more than I could have hoped for, and has encouraged me to go through various coaching courses. He visits my clubs to lend a hand and give support and advice. Without the help from Active Schools I’d probably just be doing football after-school.”
