TOP Play & Sport Resource

Funded by the Youth Sport Trust and sportscotland, the TOP Programme works to assist Scotland’s primary schools and community organisations to support children in increasing physical activity and skill levels and to encourage their involvement in physical activity and sport.

Three key components of the programme are training, resource cards and equipment, designed to support teachers and other leaders in providing children with a high quality and enjoyable introduction to PE and sport as well as clear pathways – from play to sport and from school to community.

TOP Play (4-9 year olds) concentrates on the essential core skills such as throwing, catching, running and jumping, whilst TOP Sport (7 to 11 year olds) develops skills in specific sports such as Tennis, Netball, Rugby and Hockey. The resource is made up of activity cards and large bags of child-friendly play and sport specific equipment.

The Active Schools team provide training for teachers and community coaches. if you would like to know more or would like to request training on TOPS please contact the team using the email link below.
