On Wednesday 6th January 2010, West Dunbartonshire Council published its proposed Budget Savings Options for 2010/11which will be considered by Council later in the month.
Despite the Council’s budget gap for 2010/11 being identified at £8.7 million in September 2009, the gap has now been reduced to £2.6 million through a number of significant measures.
At present no decision has been taken on the proposed options, which will be considered by Council on January 28th, 2010.
Chief Executive David McMillan has provided a personal message for local residents and staff explaining the challenges facing the Council in 2010/11 and in future years. Mr. McMillan stated: “West Dunbartonshire Council, like all other public bodies in Scotland is facing a tough financial challenge over the next 3 years. The Council has a proven track record of successfully managing what it spends on services within a tight budget and we will work hard to make sure that this continues.”
