Fly tippers and litterers in West Dunbartonshire are being asked to think again during the final week of Keep Scotland Tidy’s “National Spring Clean” in April.
West Dunbartonshire Council is urging local people to take some pride in their neighbourhoods and stop the practice of dropping litter or dumping unwanted household items.
Ronnie Dinnie, Head of Land and Environment at the Council said: “While it is important all year round, the Council is making an extra effort to appeal to local people during April, which is National Spring Clean Month. The message is that responsible, caring citizens do not drop litter or practice fly-tipping.
“Fly-tipping blights the area and is illegal - you could receive a substantial fine if you are caught. Our primary school children are taught not to drop litter and their parents and other adults should be following suit.”
He added: “The Council has many ways to help householders dispose of their unwanted items. It provides a special uplift service, for a small charge of £15. You can arrange an uplift by calling 01389 738282.
“Also, if you’re clearing out for the summer, waste and recyclable material that won’t fit in your wheelie bin can be taken to the numerous waste transfer stations throughout West Dunbartonshire.”
