Clydebank Museum - 4 Star Attraction Success!

Tuesday 20th July 2010

A recent report from Visit Scotland following their 'mystery shopper' visit to Clydebank Museum as part of the Visit Scotland Quality Assurance Scheme and has once again accredited Clydebank museum as a 4 Star attraction!

Terry Lanagan, Executive Director for Educational Services, explained: “Given the size of the museum and the limited resources available, this is an outstanding achievement and reflects all the hard work, ingenuity and commitment to the service form West Dunbartonshire Council’s fantastic Culture Team. Whilst maintaining their star status, Gill Graham’s team have also increased their scores!”

Achieving 4 Star status as part of the Visit Scotland Quality Assurance Scheme means that they are identified as being amongst the top 12% of museums in Scotland. Impressively putting them into the same category as such prestigious venues;  The Black Watch Museum, The Robert Burns Centre, St Mungos Museum, Glasgow, The Museum of Childhood Edinburgh, and Scotland Street Museum and ahead of the likes of Paisley Museum, The Scottish Maritime Museum Irvine, and The David Livingston Centre.

Areas highlighted as being of very high quality are: Staff and volunteers positive attitude and wide knowledge base; lots of fun and interesting children’s learning areas; informative and high quality exhibitions; and the high quality of retail items.

West Dunbartonshire Council, Section Head for Culture, Gill Graham added: “I am very proud of my team for achieving this excellent result. It is very well deserved. I am particularly grateful for the huge contribution from all our fantastic volunteers.

"I look forward to us all continuing to work together, and continuing to create great results when we move to our new temporary location at Clyde Shopping Centre whilst the work is being done a Clydebank Town Hall."
