The ownership, management and care of a number of cemeteries is part of the range of Bereavement Services offered by West Dunbartonshire Council. The council has a statutory duty to make appropriate and dignified provision for the disposal of the deceased through the ownership, maintenance and operation of cemeteries and burial grounds. Cemeteries under the Council’s care:
Dalnottar Cemetery, Clydebank
Dumbarton Cemetery, Dumbarton
Kilbowie Cemetery, Clydebank
Kilmaronock Cemetery, Gartochan
North Dalnottar Cemetery, Clydebank
Old Kilpatrick Cemetery, Old Kilpatrick
Vale of Leven Cemetery, Alexandria
The administrative centre for the service is located at the Council’s offices in Rosebery Place, Clydebank. It is from here that the administration duties relative to the arrangement of the burial services are undertaken. The public can visit these offices to arrange the purchase of a burial lair or to make personal enquiries, such as researching family burial information, genealogical research, etc. It is this office that Funeral Directors contact to arrange burial services.

There are a number of dedicated full time members of staff who contribute to the successful management and operation of the burial administration and cremation service. Three members of staff work from the administration office at Rosebery Place, Clydebank with additional burial staff permanently located at North Dalnottar, Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Cemeteries.
Genealogy
Geneological enquiries and lair searches associated with family history are undertaken at the Burial and Cremation Administration office at Rosebery Place, Clydebank. Information can be provided on who is interred within the lair, the date(s) of interment along with a range of other information. There is a £12.00 fee for a lair search.
