The Local Plan for West Dunbartonshire is a guiding framework for how land is and should be used and where different types of development should be located. In addition to allocating land for specific development, the Local Plan also sets out the criteria by which all planning applications are assessed, and it addresses a wide range of community and environmental issues.
The Council has recently completed a West Dunbartonshire Finalised Draft Local Plan.
Clydebank Adopted Local Plan
The current Adopted Clydebank Local Plan which was adopted in 2004 will be replaced by the West Dunbartonshire Adopted Local Plan.
The Structure Plan
A Glasgow and Clyde Valley Joint Structure Plan, which gives the strategic planning overview for the whole of the Clyde Valley area (including West Dunbartonshire) can be inspected by clicking on this link.
Strategic Environmental Assessment
A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is also necessary for the new Local Plan. This assesses the likely impacts of the policies and proposals contained in the Plan on the environment and make recommendations about how to avoid any negative impacts and enhance any positive impacts.
