Dumbarton Town Centre Masterplan

In May 2007, WDC commissioned consultants Broadway Malyan to prepare a town centre masterplan

and delivery strategy for Dumbarton. The overall aim of the masterplan is to provide a guide for future public and private sector redevelopment of the area including and surrounding the Artizan Centre, to ensure that the town meets modern retailing demands. Public consultation events in June 2007 and February 2008, have assisted in shaping the masterplan. The main proposals within the masterplan include;

 

  • A large retail unit to the north of the Artizan Centre with decked parking, to anchor the town centre;

  • A new vehicular access from the A814 to service the unit;

  • A new public space, including parking spaces, between the retail unit and the Artizan Centre;

  • New retail development on the corner of High Street and Risk Street, with decked parking;

  • The creation of a new street between the former Co-op building and 20 High Street; and

  • New retail development with residential use above between High Street and St Mary's Way.

 

It is intended that the masterplan will be reported to a future Committee of the Council's Housing, Environmental and Economic Development Committee, for adoption.
