Building Standards

The Building Standards system in Scotland is a pre-emptive means of regulating construction to secure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of persons in or about buildings, to further the conservation of fuel and power, and to promote sustainable development. It should not be confused with Planning which relates to differing legislation. You may therefore require two types of permissions for many developments.
