Learning Centres

Come to Learn!

Libraries have always been "learning centres", but the development of Information Technology has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase.

Available library services are constantly under review as the technology and the opportunities it brings change. Services vary according to the size of the library branch; so it is a good idea to contact your local library to see what is on offer at your most convenient service points.

Learning at your fingertips

Computers are available to enable you to carry out projects of your own, follow courses of study, or even just for practice at the keyboard or in the use of popular applications for word processing, etc.

The Internet

The Internet lets you do many things: send and receive e-mail, search directories, find information on virtually any subject at any level, take part in on-line training courses, or just surf the net.

Training

Training can be arranged for the use of computers in general, for particular applications, or for surfing the web. Ask at your local branch for information about currently available training.

Books and Software

The bigger branch libraries have books and software for consultation in the learning centres. The books cover applications installed on the learning centre machines, and other popular programs too. Some items are available for short term loan.
