Non-Fiction or Fact Books are given a classification number depending on their subject matter. The numbering system is called the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme and is used in all of our libraries. The main sections are:

000 099 Generalities: includes computing, mysteries, journalism.

100 199 Philosophy: includes the paranormal, psychology, ethics.

200 299 Religion: includes world religions.

300 399 Social Sciences: includes economics, politics, law, military history, crime, welfare, education, folklore.

400 499 Language: includes European languages.

500 599 Science: includes mathematics, astronomy physics, chemistry, life sciences, botany.

600 699 Technology: includes medicine, gardening, engineering, pets, food and cookery, home improvements, business studies.

700 799 The Arts: includes architecture, drawing, painting, decorative arts, music, photography, performing arts, cinema and TV, sport.

800 899 Literature: includes traditional and modern classics from around the world.
