Industrial premises actually suffered less damage than housing. A bomb at Beardmore's Diesel Works was one of the earliest recorded, whilst spectacular fires at the Yoker Distillery, Rothesay Dock, the Admiralty oil tanks at Old Kilpatrick and Singer's huge timber yard provided enough light to set the town aglow. It is said that the glare could be seen in Aberdeenshire, more than 100 miles away. The Royal Ordnance Factory and Turner's Asbestos Works were both seriously damaged by fire and several other industrial premises suffered varying levels of bomb damage.
The Strathclyde Hosiery Mill in Duntocher was completely destroyed.
