Exhibition Venues & How to Hire


General Information for Exhibition Venue Hire

  • Exhibition space is usually available for four week slots but this can be negotiable
  • It is advisable to book well in advance as space cannot be guaranteed at short notice
  • There are currently no hire charges for any of the venues in West Dunbartonshire. However, please note that this is subject to change
  • All venues are available for exhibition hire further to discussion with the Exhibitions Officer
  • Dates agreed for set up and uplift must be adhered to
  • Press Releases can be organised through the Exhibitions Officer
  • It is advisable to visit a venue before a booking is made

The Backdoor Gallery This exhibition space comprises 45 linear metres of hanging space and gallery standard cases which can be requested. The space is used primarily for professional touring exhibitions but individual professional artists can request a space. The space is flexible and can accommodate a range of exhibitions and audio visual work.

To hire Examples of work must be submitted to the Exhibitions Officer prior to confirmation of booking.

To hire Works for sale must be co-ordinated by the artist - no sales to take place through the library. All works must be glazed, if appropriate, framed and strung for hanging on hooks. Hanging is the responsibility of the organiser but the Exhibitions Officer can be available to assist on request.


The Local Studies Room This ground floor level space is a small area for exhibitions of local interest. There is a small hessian-covered panelled area and museum quality display cases.
