Shipshape - Shipbuilding on the River Clyde & Leven

Clydebank Museum, Clydebank Townhall, Dumbarton Road, G81 1UE

 

This focuses on the history and global impact of shipbuilding within West Dunbartonshire.The exhibition features the shipbuilding firms of Napier,Denny and McMillan in Dumbarton; John Brown in Clydebank;Beardmore in Dalmuir and Scotts of Bowling.Themes include the companies, workforce, famous vessels and the unions.

The exhibition also features ship models from the local collection and local makers, artefacts, photographs, archives and recontructions.

From 27th April until 18th September 2010

This exhibition features the work of landscape artists and showcases a selection of fine art from the West Dunbartonshire Council Museum Collection.Featured artists include JMW Turner, Philip Reeves, William Birnie and George Devlin with works dating from the 19th century to the present.
