How to Donate a Sewing Machine
Singer Sewing Machine Measurements

The staff at Clydebank Museum are delighted to consider adding a sewing machine to the Collection of West Dunbartonshire, but to do this, they need to know the following information:

  • The distance between the needle (C) and the far edge of the arm (A) of the sewing machine (see illustration).
  • The serial number of the sewing machine, usually situated on the sewing machine base (B) where it joins the arm (A).
  • The make of the machine, if possible. This is often printed on the arm (A).

Staff at the museum will be happy to answer any additional questions. Please phone them on 0141 562 2400.

All donations will be considered in accordance with the museum's Management and Development Plan. This currently states that:

"The Council will no longer solicit sewing machines to add to the collection due to constraints in storage space and practicalities of exhibition and interpretation. It may still be appropriate to accept sewing machines and ephemera which will fill gaps in the collection."
