He has exhibited Internationally in Spain and Norway as well as various venues in Scotland throughout his career and is best known for his ability to cross genres with ease from his dynamic figure and portrait work to his Scottish harbours and Mediterranean scenes, all of which radiate light and atmosphere. His latest work is concerned with the boat building and ship building tradition on the Clyde in a working collaboration with the Scottish Maritime Museum based at Irvine Harbour where Chick has his studio. This project links his formative years and his family history to his current working life as an artist. His grandfather worked in John Brown's shipyard in Clydebank and Chick was a pupil at St Patrick's High School in Dumbarton.

'Faceless, Nameless', a celebration of the everyman and the throw away snapshot'

A Solo Exhibition by Jody Kelly

Saturday 14th April- Saturday 12th May

Jody Kelly is an Ayrshire figurative painter who is fond of working from snapshots or awkwardly taken and unconventional photos. He paints in acrylic.

The truth is there's beauty in the mundane and life moves too fast these days. I want to slow it down to the moments that most people would never look at twice. I am drawn to images that get the viewer back to look at the world in new ways and finding a childlike fascination and (sometimes) strangeness in split second moments of time in the mundane. I hope in this way I create a surreal atmosphere in my work.
